Dalam perjalanan panjangnya prodi ini telah mampu meraih akreditasi LAMDIK dengan peringkat Unggul . Selain dipersiapkan untuk berkiprah di masyarakat sebagai pendidik IPS di tingkat SMP, mahasiswa prodi PIPS juga dibekali berbagai ilmu agar memiliki kompetensi-kompetensi tambahan yaitu kemampuan berwirausaha, kemampuan sebagai pengembang media pembelajaran IPS telah berhasil\u00a0 meluluskan lebih dari 3000 mahasiswa dan terus berupaya meningkatkan kualitasnya. Peningkatan kualitas dilakukan dalam bidang pengajaran, penelitian pengabdian masyarakat melalui kolaborasi antara dosen dan mahasiswa. Selain itu, prodi ini juga berusaha memperoleh pengakuan secara internasional dengan mengembangkan International Class Program (ICP). Untuk mendukung peningkatan kualitas tersebut, prodi melakukan kerjasama dengan berbagai pihak dan juga menyediakan fasilitas yang memadai untuk pelaksanaan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi
